I was an American college student studying in Rome Italy in 1969-1970. For Christmas break we travelled to Beirut Lebanon. Homesick for America during the holidays, we found the Lebanese premier of the Hello Dolly was opening. The movie delighted a bunch of American students who could relate to the hometown feel albeit 80 years earlier. We purchased the sound track album and played it endlessly until we returned home.
Watching a recent showing on TCM, brought back memories of a wonderful time. It also brought back memories of Danny?s murder that I had read about in the Orange County newspapers in 1977. I only wish that justice had been done as it is being done in 2013 to the murdered of Travis Alexander.
I wish to salute Danny Lockin as a wonderful talent that we had lost way too soon. As his character Barnaby proclaimed. He had elegance. God bless him and thank you, Danny.

Wayne, I did exactly the same thing you did. Danny was always my favorite. After watching Hello Dolly for the at least the 100th time last night. I researched Danny and was heartbroken reading about his death. So sad.....

I JUST WATCHED HELLO DOLLY FOR THE 15TH TIME LAST NIGHT ON TURNER CLASSICS. DANNY HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITY CHARACTERS AND I LOVED HIS DANCING. MY MOM WAS A DANCING TEACHER AS WAS HIS MOM AND I RESPECTED HIS TALENT. I DECIDED TO LOOK HIM UP TODAY MAY, 6 2013 AND WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT ABOUT HIS DEATH. I NEVER KNEW. MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

I so enjoyed watching this talented, athletic dancer. His gymnastic moves were done so effortlessly and with such grace. His life was over too soon.

I find that the person who did what they did to you did not get what he deserved. I loved you in "Hello Dolly." You will forever be known for your role of Barnaby Tucker. Rest in Peace.
